Social Venture Partners Introduces the Encore Fellows Program

The Encore Fellows Program run by Social Venture Partners is designed to ease retirees out of their career and into a post-career life. The program pairs workers with existing organizations and business needing the retirees skills and knowledge.

A 2017 Merrill Lynch study on retirement shows nearly three-quarters of American workers over age 50 plan to work after “retiring” from their primary careers. Almost 80% of those retirees planning to work after retirements say they don’t need the money. Instead, these retirees are looking to maintain a sense of purpose.

The program currently operates in Portland Oregon and is slowly spreading across the country. Portland was recognized as the first Age-Friendly City in the U.S. under a U.N. program. Nearly 25% of the Portland metro area workforce is over the age of 55 and the experience of new retirees is extremely valuable when passed along to younger employees.

Check out Social Venture Partners before you retire. Roughly 10,000 Boomers retire each day, a steady stream that lasts until 2030, and there’s a high value that walks out the door each day. SVP is located in more than 40 cities across 9 countries, so there a good chance SVP is operating near you.
