Watch The LIve Broadcast Of The Moon Landing
Yes, the live broadcast on CBS with our trusted Uncle Walt (back when the Fourth Estate was respected for the jump they do). Well, it’s live in the sense that it will play on the web page as it played out on our TVs, down to the last second.
And if you miss it? Well, wait until next year to catch it again or chase down the various segments on YouTube.
The replay starts at 1:10 p.m. PDT (4:10 p.m. EDT) with the moon landing broadcast and ends 8 hours later at midnight.
Oh, remember this was live TV broadcast directly from the moon’s surface. The same year as the internet was born and 22 years before the web existed. Yeah, take that kids!
Baby Boomers Get More Selective About Friends
That’s the conclusion in a Stanford survey published by the Stanford Center on Longevity. According to Dr. Tamara Sims, a Stanford research scientist involved in the Sightlines Project, the 2016 data, also collected in 1995 and 2012, show the baby boom generation, especially those 55 to 64 years old, are less socially engaged than people the same age 20 years ago.
The big question is why, says Dr. Sims, who is collecting more data with her colleagues to figure out the answer. Theories include caring for elderly parents, working more and longer years, and online activity taking the place of face to face activities
It’s also possible that boomers are remaining independent and self-sufficient—just as they have always been. They questioned social norms and felt less obligated to attend church or join the Junior League and Chamber of Commerce. “Baby boomers do whatever they want,” Dr. Adams says.
Right. We couldn’t have said that better.
Let’s Play The Baby Boomer Blame Game
What is it this time? Housing prices.
Yep, two studies claim Baby Boomers will soon sell their family homes in large waves, causing housing prices to plummet. It’s not sure if the studies are intending to cause this action or actually just reporting the obvious situation when supply outstrips demand.
- Fannie Mae’s Economic and Strategic Research group, warns that the “beginning of a mass exodus looms on the horizon….”
- The Stephen S. Fuller Institute at George Mason University, focuses on the Washington D.C. market and sees a similar problem ahead.

A Different View At the Boomer Housing Slump
Just to keep things in balance, The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel takes a different view of the boomer housing crisis. The paper looks at the burgeoning Millennial desire for a big house in the suburbs.
Yeah, it’s time for the kids to have kids of their own–and for Boomers to become grandparents.
Baby Boomers Building Small Business
Lastly, Forbes just published an article on baby boomers now starting small businesses. The article is based on interviews with 2,600 small business owners and is packed with information on baby boomers “tapping into their experience in the workplace, their expansive professional networks, and their stable financial positions to become successful business owners.”
Ah, yes, another group telling us who we are. If nothing else, it should be an entertaining read.
