Naked Sleep is Better Sleep?

1

Naked sleep may be a cure for what’s keeping you up at night.

Dr. Travis Bradberry suggests you drop the pajamas as you slide under the sheets. And he lists several reasons with research to backup his suggestion. Among the major benefits claimed from naked sleep are:

  • Lowering or avoiding the bad effects of prolonged stress
  • Enjoying anti-aging effects from increased release of growth hormone and melatonin from quality sleep
  • Higher self-esteem and confidence from increased comfort

In addition to the metabolic effects of sleeping in the buff, removing your clothes improves blood circulation, which is good for your heart and muscles. The quality sleep you’ll enjoy also increases the release of growth hormone and melatonin, both of which have anti-aging benefits.

Naked sleep is a highly studied subject within the sleep studies. Dr. Bradberry pulls information from studies conducted at:

  • University of Rochester – effects of quality sleep on toxic brain protein reduction
  • University of Amsterdam – effects of body temperature on quality sleep
  • US National Institutes of Health – effect of temperature on body fat production
  • University of Melbourne – effects of confidence on wage rise and promotions

Quality sleep is a major factor in aging and performance. We cover the effects of quality sleep, and not so quality sleep, in some of our other posts, too. Take a few moments to read–or listen!–to what many others say about the need for quality sleep and how it protects your health.

  1. How’s your sleep?

I’m going through a period of getting about 3-4 hours of sleep a night, then I can’t go back to sleep until that important afternoon meeting. I think you know what I’m going to try tonight.

How about you? What’s you favorite quality sleep method?
