The #1 Secret To Success in Life?

0

This time of year you see all kinds of posts about the secret to success in life, fitness and love. It goes with a New Year just about to be ushered in. But this post from one of the gurus over at TheCrux.com seems to hit that “secret” head on. Of course, he says it was inspired by one of my favorite bloggers, James Altucher.  Take a read and see if you happen to agree.

“The #1 Secret To My Success in Life?”

“I’ve finally figured out the REAL secret to my success. It’s something I’ve unknowingly been doing my whole life. I know I should have figured it out earlier… Just imagine where I’d be if I’d figured it out 20 years ago!”

-Dr. Steve Sjuggerud, thecrux.com

One sentence from James Altucher’s book, Choose Yourself sums up the secret to Dr. Sjuggerud’s success: The only way to create value for yourself is to create value for others. And I could not agree with that statement more. It’s really what we are all about.

So what would be a good example if you’ve not come with an idea? Altucher states in the book (which my oldest son told me about and I’ve read): “Think of two people in your network who don’t know each other but you think can add value to each other’s lives. Introduce them… Get better and better at it. The more value that you bring to the people in your network (even if it doesn’t bring value to you in an immediate way), the greater the value of your network. And then the greater value you will have.”

This concept is particularly relevant if you’re looking to build a new business in your third act. Because it’s been my experience that the quicker your grasp and practice this concept, the quicker you build your customer list. It really is that simple.
