Saying Goodbye to the Family Home

0

Most boomer males have had to say goodbye to the family home. My turn came six months ago.  It was the home my parents lived in for nearly 40 years. They bought it when my brother and I began college. And the old Salmon Street house boasted many a wonderful occasion, from fabulous holiday gatherings to wedding celebrations to grandchildren birthdays.

It was a very difficult time for me as I not only needed to find a new place to live but help move nearly 55 years of antiques and collectibles. Which my parents began to collect starting in the mid-1950s in France.

Last night, Steve Hartman of the CBS Evening News did a report on going through the same process with his own father. And it is something I think you’ll find worth seeing if nothing else but to remind you of another important life chapter we have all survived.

How did you survive your goodbye from the family home? Give us your thoughts below.

Live well.
